What is the legal age to vape in the UK?
We get a lot of questions on this topic, most commonly we get asked: “Is vaping legal for under 18s in the UK?” The simple answer is yes, however, You must be 18 or over to purchase e-cigarettes or e-liquids in the UK. It is against the law for any business to sell vaping products to anyone aged under 18 whether sold online or through a brick and mortar store.
This legislation came in to force on 1st October 2015 following government policy change.
So again, what is the legal age to vape in the UK?
Well at this moment in time it is complicated, because whilst it is illegal to buy a vape device if you are under the age of 18, an individual under 18 wouldn’t currently be committing a crime if they were to vape at home on private land or in a public place.
If a retailer is caught to be selling vaping products to minors they can be fined up to £2,500. There is a lot of confusion between retailers as to what is currently legal or illegal when it comes to vaping. The confusion only gets worse when taking into account nicotine-free vape juice and what the legalities are with selling these products.
